Why the 12 Foundation
Why I’m Launching the 12 Foundation – And Why It Matters
When people ask me why I decided to launch the 12 Foundation, it always comes back to one thing, purpose.
Throughout my rugby career, I was lucky to learn from incredible teammates and coaches. I experienced what it feels like to belong, to be pushed, and to have someone believe in you. But I also know what it’s like when you don’t have those opportunities when no one shows up, when no one expects much. That can follow you into adulthood in ways we don’t always talk about.
The 12 Foundation is my way of tipping the balance back. It’s about showing young people, especially those from state schools and underrepresented communities, that their background doesn’t define how far they can go. Sport taught me discipline, resilience, and belief. Now, I want to use everything I’ve learned on and off the pitch to open doors for others.
Being a father reinforces how much it matters that all kids get the chance to feel valued, supported, and inspired. Whether it’s through rugby, nutrition, mental health support, or simply having a positive role model, every young person deserves the same shot at a healthy, fulfilling future.
This foundation isn’t about ticking boxes or a PR exercise. It’s about real impact. It’s about helping kids stand taller, think bigger, and feel like they matter, because they do.
If you’re reading this and wondering how you can help, you’re already halfway there. It starts with caring. From there, we can do something powerful together.
Let’s get to work.
